She told BBC Radio Four’s Front Row she hoped production would start in the next two years.

The Devil Wears Prada star was first in talks to play Garland in early 2009.

“It’s a very sensitive project and there have been so many stories told about her life that we’re really trying to get it right.

“So we’ve taking our time with it. I know it seems like it’s sort of an endless process but it’s very, very slow incremental steps.

“I had a meeting about it a couple of weeks ago and we’re all very motivated.”

Film producer Harvey Weinstein was quoted in 2009 as saying it would be a film and theatre project based on Gerald Clarke’s 2001 book Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland.

Hathaway said she will be singing in her role as the legendary star: “I certainly don’t sing like Judy Garland but the talk is to have me do the singing.

“But I think people might cry murder if they don’t get to hear Judy’s beloved voice so the talk is for me to sing but I don’t know if that’s exactly what will happen.”

Hathaway is nominated for a Golden Globe for her latest film Love and Other Drugs which opens in the UK on 29 December 2010.

Seemingly loosely based on Frank Miller‘s 1986 Batman comic limited series The Dark Knight Returns, the film features a story that takes place eight years after the conclusion of 2008′s The Dark Knight. Christian Bale‘s Batman is seemingly out of commision, or at least very unprepared to face off against the psychotic menace of Bane, played by a Tom Hardy whose voice is much more clear than it was in earlier trailers.

Bane’s warpath brings Gotham to its knees and puts Batman on his (broken) back, though the combination of Commisioner Gordon (Gary Oldman), Alfred (Michael Caine) and John Blake (newcomer to the series, Joseph Gordon-Levitt) believe in his return, even when all seems lost.

The trailer features Gordon-Levitt and Anne Hathaway, who plays Selina Kyle/Catwoman, quite heavily, telling a story of struggle and misplaced trust amid the crippling of a city.

The trailer will be attached to the summer’s other huge superhero film, The Avengers, when it is released this Friday; The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters on July 20.

While we ADORE the authenticity of singing live for every take, those are some CRAZY intense vocals being done over and over and over…

One source says about the epic filming process:

Every big musical number is being recorded as live, which is a huge challenge to the cast. It has to be note-perfect or Tom [Hooper] won’t use it – he’s a real perfectionist. Some of the cast have been belting out songs a number of times in a row and it’s taken its toll on their voices.”

BUT, it seems that the production crew are handing out specialty ginger and lemon concotions to the star-singers, and throat lozenges are being sucked on the regular.

This movie will be INSANE and is surely going to DEVOUR any lurking tigers in the night!

The Dark Knight Rises trailer, the third for those keeping count, will be attached to Marvel and Disney’s The Avengers beginning May 4. Nolanfans got the trailer confirmation from WB Exhibitor website which clearly shows the trailer’s existence and debut date. It also confirms The Dark Knight Rises trailer will appear in 2D and 3D traditional and IMAX screenings.

You might be wondering why Warner Bros. and DC Comics would attach their big summer tentpole on the competition’s film. It’s all about playing to the target audience and The Avengers is a perfect fit, especially considering its near record-breaking opening weekend tracking. As Nolanfans points out, the third trailer for The Dark Knight made its debut attached to Iron Man in 2008. Similarly, Inception’s last trailer was first spotted in front of Iron Man 2.

If any of you needed a little extra push to go watch The Avengers theatrically next month, The Dark Knight Rises trailer should do the trick. Batman’s final fight under the direction of Christopher Nolan will take its own shot at box office records beginning July 20.

The 29-year-old actress – who has had to lose weight and cut off her long locks to play dying prostitute Fantine in the film adaptation of ‘Les Miserables’ – apparently wants to wait for her hair to grow back before tying the knot with fiancé Adam Schulman.

A source told the Daily Mail newspaper: ‘Anne’s worried there won’t be time to get back in shape and grow her hair for a summer wedding.

‘She also has to promote her movie Batman. They are thinking about postponing until later this year or maybe 2013.’

The couple – who started dating in 2008 following Anne’s split from Raffaello Follieri after he pled guilty to 14 counts of money laundering, conspiracy and wire fraud – announced their engagement in November and Anne explained he ‘ruined’ her plans to stay single.

She said: ‘We hit if off immediately but it took us a pretty long time to get together. He thought that I had a boyfriend and I thought that he had a girlfriend, so I thought that I’d better keep my distance because I didn’t want to be that girl.

‘I am very much in love with him, [only] Adam totally ruined my plan. I was really actually looking forward to a little alone time, and then I fell in love like a fool!’

Once she realized what was at stake, it must have immediately clicked that at some point in the film, her character would be burglarizing someone. Yet the only shots of Catwoman released to the media over the past several months have shown her either riding the Bat Bike or standing around looking sexy.

In this latest batch of The Dark Knight Rises images from the pages of the new Summer Movie Guide edition of Entertainment Weekly, Catwoman can be seen peeking over her shoulder with a cracked open empty safe in front of her. That’s the Catwoman we all know and love. The one who rips off first and kisses and tells later. Though I suspect she expected that safe to not be empty.

Elsewhere in the images you can see Batman (Christian Bale) using an iPad-like device to control something, Bane (Tom Hardy) and his thugs taking it to Gotham’s version of Wall Street, Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne sharing a dance, Bruce Wayne chatting with Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman) while reading the Gotham Newspaper (wouldn’t he use his iPad instead?), and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as on alert beat cop John Blake.

July 20 is when The Dark Knight Rises will take theaters by storm, threatening every opening day and weekend record there is.
